Opencockpits 
(controller I/O hard- and software)

 

Opencockpits (a Spanish organization) has several I/O controllers. These controllers are called IOCards. As far as I'm concerned, they are the best product on the market.

Opencockpits has the main aim of using open and free licences. The only restriction is the commercial usage without previous permission.

The controller cards (hardware)


The mastercards start at 26 euro for the card and components separately, so you assemble them yourself or alternatively you can order them already made and tested at a higher price. The PCB's are double sided and of a high quality. The only thing I would recommend getting is IC sockets as they are not included. Nothing worse than soldering IC's directly to the board. Especially if you need to replace them in the future.
 

The controller software

SIOC is an advanced programming system for IOCards with modules that connect to FSUIPC (Flightsimulator). With it, any cockpit simulation can be programmed.


The software is also easy to use and the SIOC software is very popular. SIOC allows you to make the cards do anything you want. Especially if you want your hardware to do something that current software doesn't do presently. Support is fantastic with their own forum or even directly from the designer.

I really advise to put some effort to get familiar with this programming language. It is very flexible and is absolute an asset.
